The Zircon StudSensor Pro SL-AC requires a 9V alkaline battery (included). To install or replace the battery:

Initial Calibration (TruCal Technology):

The device features TruCal technology for automatic calibration. Before each scan, ensure the unit is placed flat against the wall in the desired starting location, away from any known studs or live wires. Press and hold the Power button. The unit will calibrate automatically, indicated by a series of beeps and lights. Wait for the calibration to complete before moving the unit.

1. Selecting a Mode:

2. Scanning for Studs:

1. Place the unit flat against the wall where you wish to begin scanning. Ensure it is not over a stud or live wire during initial placement.
2. Press and hold the Power button. Wait for the unit to complete its calibration.
3. Slowly slide the unit horizontally across the surface. Keep it flat against the wall.
4. When the unit detects a stud edge, the SpotLite Pointing System will illuminate, and an audible tone will sound. Mark this spot.
5. Continue sliding past the stud until the SpotLite and tone turn off. Mark this second spot. The center of the stud is typically between these two marks.
6. For increased accuracy, repeat the scan from the opposite direction.

3. WireWarning Detection:

The WireWarning detection feature continuously indicates the presence of live AC voltage (unshielded electrical wires) up to 2 inches (50 mm) deep when scanning in either Stud Scan or DeepScan modes. The WireWarning indicator will illuminate when live AC voltage is detected. Exercise extreme caution when this indicator is active.
