Multi-Phase Charging Process
The charger employs a proprietary multi-stage charging process designed to optimally charge and maintain batteries. This process includes several phases:
- Phase 1: Energizing - The charger determines the best charging path for the connected battery. This may involve a soft start mode for deeply discharged batteries to protect them from initial charge stress.
- Phase 2: Fast Charge - In most cases, the charger enters this stage to rapidly charge the battery.
- Phase 3: Absorption - The charging current decreases as the battery approaches full charge.
- Phase 4: Completion - The battery is brought to full charge.
- Phase 5: Resting - Once fully charged, the charger's output is virtually turned off, only occasionally monitoring battery condition. This reduces chemical reaction within the battery, extending its lifespan compared to traditional maintenance modes.
- Phase 6: Exercising - The charger introduces a controlled load on the battery to simulate active use. This feature helps maintain the battery's optimum condition, especially during long-term storage.
- Phase 7: Restoring - After the exercising phase, the battery is recharged to full capacity.

In Power Supply (PS) mode, the charger provides a steady power output (up to 10 amps for the PL2310) with the goal of maintaining a stable system voltage of 14.1V DC.
