This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, setup, and maintenance of your Holzmann ED300ECO metal lathe. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the machine to ensure proper use and to prevent injury or damage.
The Holzmann ED300ECO is a compact metal lathe designed for precision turning tasks. It features a lead screw for thread cutting and automatic longitudinal feed, inductively hardened and ground prismatic bed guides, and a hardened main spindle with adjustable tapered roller bearings for high concentricity.

- Carefully remove the lathe from its packaging. Retain packaging for future transport if needed.
- Place the lathe on a sturdy, level workbench capable of supporting its weight (approximately 48 kg gross, 40 kg net).

- Ensure the chuck jaws are clean and free of debris.
- Insert the workpiece and tighten the chuck jaws securely using the chuck key. Remove the chuck key immediately after tightening.
- For longer workpieces, use the tailstock for additional support.
4.3 Tool Holder and Tooling
- Mount turning tools securely in the tool post.
- Ensure the cutting edge of the tool is aligned with the center height of the workpiece.
- The maximum tool holder capacity is 8 mm.
4.4 Speed and Feed Control
The spindle speed is continuously variable from 50 to 2500 min-1 via the control knob. Adjust the speed according to the material being machined and the cutting tool used.

- Automatic Longitudinal Feed: Engage the lead screw for automatic longitudinal turning.
- Thread Cutting: The lathe supports metric threads from 0.5 to 2.5 mm/r. Use the standard included metal change gears to set the desired thread pitch. Refer to the machine's gear chart for specific configurations.
- Cross Slide and Compound Slide: Use the handwheels for manual control of the cross-feed (70 mm travel) and compound slide (70 mm travel). The tailstock can be offset for taper turning.
