The thermometer requires two AAA batteries (included). To install or replace batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment cover at the base of the handle.

This thermometer allows for adjustable emissivity to ensure precise measurements on various surfaces. The D:S ratio of 12:1 means that from 12 inches away, the thermometer measures a 1-inch area.
