The ES 697 Current Probe requires a 9V battery for operation. To install or replace the battery:

1. Ensure the probe is in the OFF position.

4.2 Connecting to a Multimeter/Scope

The ES 697 probe outputs a voltage signal proportional to the measured current. Connect the probe's output cable to your measuring device as follows:

• Connect the red banana plug of the probe's output cable to the V (voltage) input terminal of your multimeter or scope.
• Connect the black banana plug of the probe's output cable to the COM (common) input terminal of your multimeter or scope.
• Set your multimeter or scope to measure DC or AC voltage, depending on the current type you intend to measure.

5.1 Powering On and Range Selection

1. Turn the Range Selector Switch to the desired current type and range (e.g., 40A AC, 400A AC, 40A DC, 400A DC). The Power indicator LED will illuminate.

5.2 DC Zero Adjustment

Before measuring DC current, it is crucial to zero the probe to ensure accurate readings. This compensates for any residual magnetic fields or offset in the sensor.

1. With the probe powered on and set to a DC range (40A DC or 400A DC), ensure the clamp jaws are completely closed and there is no conductor inside.
2. Observe the reading on your connected multimeter or scope.
3. Slowly turn the DC ZERO adjustment knob until the multimeter/scope displays a reading as close to zero as possible.
4. The probe is now ready for DC current measurement.

5.3 Measuring Current

1. Press the Jaw Release Lever to open the clamp жаак.
2. Carefully position the jaws around a single conductor carrying the current you wish to measure. Ensure the jaws close completely around the conductor.
