A: This is typically caused by an area of the heating element being bunched or pinched. First, ensure that the heated mattress pad is laid flat and not tucked in, bunched, and does not have anything heavy on it. Lay the heated mattress pad flat and run your fingers along the wire, paying special attention to the top and bottom of the heated mattress pad where the wire bends. If any portion of the wire is twisted on itself, manually twist it back to straighten it.
