The Hecht 9230 is an electric chainsaw chain sharpener designed for quick and professional sharpening of saw chains. It features an integrated lamp for improved visibility and comes with two grinding wheels of different thicknesses.

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect the sharpener for any signs of damage during transit. Ensure all listed components are present.
3.2 Mounting the Sharpener
The Hecht 9230 chain sharpener is designed for secure mounting to a workbench or wall. This ensures stability and safety during operation. Locate the pre-drilled holes on the base of the unit.

- Choose a stable and level surface for mounting, such as a workbench.
- Position the sharpener and mark the locations for the mounting screws through the holes in the base.
- Drill pilot holes if necessary, appropriate for your mounting surface.
- Secure the sharpener firmly using two appropriate screws (not included).
3.3 Installing the Grinding Wheel
The sharpener comes with two grinding wheels: 145 x 22.3 x 3.2 mm and 145 x 22.3 x 4.7 mm. Select the appropriate wheel for your chain type.
- Ensure the sharpener is unplugged from the power source.
- Remove the protective cover over the grinding wheel area.
- Loosen the retaining nut and remove the current grinding wheel, if any.
- Place the desired grinding wheel onto the spindle, ensuring it is seated correctly.
- Tighten the retaining nut securely.

Connect the power cord to a standard 230V, 50 Hz electrical outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the "OFF" position before plugging in.
4.2 Adjusting Sharpening Angle
The sharpener allows for precise angle adjustments to match your chainsaw chain's specifications. Refer to your chainsaw chain's manual for the recommended sharpening angle.

- Loosen the angle adjustment knob.
- Rotate the chain clamp assembly to the desired angle, indicated by the scale on the base.
- Tighten the angle adjustment knob to secure the setting.
4.3 Sharpening Process
The integrated 15W lamp and the large guide handle provide optimal visibility and control during sharpening.

- Place the chainsaw chain into the chain clamp, ensuring one cutter tooth is positioned correctly for sharpening.
- Secure the chain firmly in the clamp.
- Turn on the sharpener. The integrated lamp will illuminate the work area.
- Using the guide handle, slowly lower the grinding wheel onto the cutter tooth. Apply gentle, consistent pressure.
- Sharpen each tooth on one side of the chain, then flip the chain and sharpen the teeth on the other side, adjusting the angle if necessary.
- Ensure all teeth are sharpened evenly.
- Turn off the sharpener and unplug it after use.

- Always use genuine Hecht replacement grinding wheels to ensure compatibility and safety.
