Before first use, the Hecht 1238 requires some assembly. Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply during assembly.

- Install Cutting Head/Blade:
Attach the desired cutting head (3-tooth blade or line head) to the shaft. Follow the instructions for securing the blade/head and ensure the protective guard is correctly installed and fastened. The 3-tooth blade is secured with a nut, while the line head typically twists on.

- Maintain a safe distance from the cutting head and ensure the protective guard is always in place.
