Sharpening Straight Edge Blades (Knives, Tools)

1. Coarse Sharpening (No. 1 V-Notch - Carbide):

   Use this slot for very dull or damaged blades, or to quickly set a new edge. Place the heel of the blade into the "1" slot. Apply light downward pressure and pull the blade slowly through the slot from heel to tip. Repeat 3-5 times or until a burr forms along the edge.

2. Fine Honing (No. 2 V-Notch - Ceramic):

   After coarse sharpening, or for blades that just need a quick touch-up, use the "2" slot. Place the heel of the blade into the "2" slot. Apply very light downward pressure and pull the blade slowly through the slot from heel to tip. Repeat 5-10 times until the edge is smooth and razor-sharp.

Sharpening Serrated Blades & Gut Hooks (Tapered Diamond Rod)

The tapered diamond rod is ideal for sharpening individual serrations and gut hooks.

• For Serrations: Identify the bevelled side of the serration (usually only one side is sharpened). Place the tapered diamond rod into each serration and move it back and forth, following the angle of the serration, until sharp.
• For Gut Hooks: Insert the tapered diamond rod into the gut hook opening. Apply light pressure and pull the rod along the inside curve of the hook until sharp.

Sharpening Fishhooks (Diamond Rod with Groove)

The groove on the diamond rod is specifically designed for fishhooks.

• Place the point of the fishhook into the groove of the diamond rod.
• Pull the hook along the rod, rotating it slightly to sharpen all sides of the point.

Using the Fire Starter (Ferro Rod)

The integrated ferro rod provides a reliable spark for starting fires.
