3.1 Initial Placement and Safety Distance

Before operating, ensure the generator is placed on a firm, level surface outdoors. It must be at least 20 feet away from any windows, vents, or doors of your home or any other building to prevent carbon monoxide fumes from entering. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

3.2 Checking Engine Oil Level

It is good practice to check the engine's oil level before each startup. The oil dipstick is located on the side of the engine.

1. Unscrew the green knob (oil dipstick) located on the side of the engine.

3. Without threading it in, insert the dipstick back into the oil port.
4. Pull the dipstick out and check the oil level. It should be between the high and low markings.

3.3 Propane Tank Inspection

Before connecting the propane tank, inspect it for leaks. This is a critical safety step.

1. Prepare a soapy mixture in a spray bottle (e.g., dish soap and water).
2. Spray the entire propane tank, especially around the valve and seams.
3. Watch for any bubbles to appear on the surface. Bubbles indicate a leak.
4. If you observe any leaks, do NOT use the tank. Replace it immediately.

3.4 Attaching the Propane Tank

The generator is designed with an onboard storage area for a 20 LB propane tank.

1. Lower the gate on the back of the generator's propane tank holder.
2. Carefully place the propane tank into the designated space.
3. Secure the propane tank using the elastic strap provided. Hook one side of the strap, pull it tightly around the tank, and hook the other side.
4. With the propane tank valve closed, attach the regulator valve of the 5-ft propane hose to the tank. Ensure this connection is hand-tight and secure.
5. Attach the other end of the propane hose to the generator's inlet. Tighten this connection securely with a wrench.
6. Slowly open the valve on your propane tank all the way to allow gas flow to the generator.

3.5 Installing the 24V iON+ Battery

The 24V iON+ battery powers the electric start feature (PowerSTART).

1. Open the top compartment on the generator's control panel.
2. Insert the fully charged 24V 2.0-Ah iON+ battery into the battery slot until it clicks into place.

It is recommended to fully test your generator when you first receive it. Set it up, turn it on, and run it for about 5 minutes to ensure everything is working perfectly before storing it away.

4.1 Electric Start (PowerSTART)

1. Ensure the propane tank is connected and its valve is fully open.
2. Locate the choke lever on the engine. Move the choke lever from the "Run" side to the "Start" side (typically to the left).
3. On the control panel, press and hold the "Start" button until the engine turns on.
4. Once the engine starts, immediately push the choke lever back to the "Run" side.

4.2 Manual Start (Recoil)

In case the electric start is not available or preferred, you can use the recoil start.

1. Ensure the propane tank is connected and its valve is fully open.
2. Move the choke lever to the "Start" position.
3. Set the main power switch on the control panel to the middle "ON" position.
4. Firmly grasp the recoil pull cord handle. Give the pull cord a swift, strong pull until the engine starts.
5. Once the engine starts, immediately push the choke lever back to the "Run" side.
