The following steps detail the installation process for the Delta Faucet Linear Shower Drain Rough. This video provides a visual guide for the installation process:
Video: How To Install Delta Linear Shower Drains. This video demonstrates the step-by-step installation of the Delta Linear Shower Drain Rough, including determining location, dry fitting, adjusting supports, leak testing, waterproofing, setting trim height, attaching spacers, prepping for tile, and installing the drain cover.
Step 1: Determine Rough Location
Carefully consider the placement of the drain rough in your shower. Ensure that all water in the wet area will flow into the selected drain location. Consider your chosen finish materials (tile, marble, natural stone) and their thickness, as this will affect the drain rough's position. For wall-mounted installations, ensure the smaller side of the drain rough faces the wall.

Step 2: Dry Fit the Rough
Before permanent installation, dry fit the drain rough into your shower pan. Connect your rough plumbing to the drain rough using either a no-hub sleeve (as demonstrated in the video) or a clamp drain. If using the included support feet, ensure they are adjusted to their shortest possible length by screwing them in fully. For wall-mounted installations, orient the top foot 90 degrees to allow the drain to sit flush against the wall. Place the drain rough onto the shower base.

Step 3: Install Height Adjustable Support
If the drain rough sits too high during the dry fit, remove the support feet. Unscrew the feet from the bracket and use a hacksaw to cut the threaded portion right below the flange. Discard the cut-off piece. Reassemble the feet, ensuring they are oriented correctly for your installation type (e.g., top foot turned 90 degrees for wall mount). Attach the foam piece to the support foot by peeling off the backing and pressing it into place. Then, attach the support foot assembly to the bottom of the drain rough, ensuring it is perpendicular and does not interfere with the installation location.
4-кадам: Агып кетүүлөрдү текшерүү
After adjusting the support feet and placing the drain rough, perform a quick water test. Temporarily tape up the waterproofing membrane to keep it out of the way. Remove the protective plastic from the drain. Pour water into the drain to check for proper drainage. Also, inspect the plumbing underneath for any leaks. If everything looks good, proceed to the next step.

Step 5: Waterproof the Base
Once the drain rough is perfectly level and the water test is successful, apply a strip of fluid-applied waterproofing compound. This strip should be wide enough to fully cover the waterproofing membrane attached to the drain rough at all contact points (floor, front, and sides, and up the back wall if applicable). Use a trowel or your hand to work out any bubbles or wrinkles, ensuring a full seal between the membrane and the compound. Apply a top coat of the fluid-applied compound over the entire waterproofing membrane and the rest of your shower base to ensure a watertight seal.
Step 6: Set Trim Frame Height
The trim frame has nubs on its sides. Place the trim frame into the drain rough with the nubs facing down. Place a piece of your chosen tile against the side of the frame. The top of the frame should be flush with the top of your tile. If the frame is too low, you will use spacers to raise it.

Image: A hand demonstrating how the tile adjustable frame provides custom height modifications to match the tiled floor.
Step 7: Attach the Spacers
The spacers have different numbers corresponding to different height levels. To determine the correct spacer number, place a spacer tight against the top of the frame and check which hole's bottom edge is flush with the top of your tile. For wall-mounted installations, use the same spacer number on both the front and back sides of the frame to maintain a level surface. Once you've determined the correct number for each location, write them down for reference. Remove the frame from the drain, align the spacer with the determined number, and press it onto the frame. Repeat for all locations.
Step 8: Prepping for Tile
Once all spacers are attached, dry fit the frame back into the drain rough. Test the fit with your tile again to ensure the frame is flush with the tile surface. Now, you can begin tiling your shower base. Use the included tiling aid by placing it into the drain rough. This will protect the drain from thinset or grout during tile installation. As you apply thinset and lay tiles, move the tiling aid along the drain to keep it clear.

Step 9: Install Drain Cover
After your shower base is tiled and the thinset has cured, apply silicone sealant between your frame and tile, and between your wall surface tile and wall edge (if installed). Do not use grout in these areas. Once the sealant has cured, you can install the drain cover. The cover can be installed with the finished side facing out or flipped over to allow for tile insertion for a more integrated look. Gently set the cover into the drain frame.
